Tree and Bonsai Museum (in Sintra)

Writer's picture: Maryana SerpininaMaryana Serpinina

And last Sunday I went to the Tree and Bonsai Museum. I wanted to go there for 3 or 4 years, and kept putting it off, but then it hit me: “I won’t put it off today, I’ll go and look at the bonsai!”

I arrived in windy Sintra. From the station to the museum it’s a 15-minute walk, from any exit to the right up, and along the serpentine of the main road. Just be careful, don’t get hit by a car while you gaze at the magnificent views of Sintra that will periodically open up to you...

When I finally got there, it was as if I had crossed a gate and found myself somewhere in Japan. They tried to create an appropriate atmosphere here. And the music, and the sound of pouring water, and even the smells helped to stay in a state of Zen all the time...

And here I am... I'm leaving with a gift!

The museum is free, operates as a store, and a school. Here you can buy bonsai for €10-€20, but also for €30.000! They also have a hotel: both for people and for bonsai! Night at the museum, have you booked it?
