What fruits can you eat on a keto diet?

Writer's picture: Maryana SerpininaMaryana Serpinina

Well, we’ve sorted out sugar: none at all, never.

"And the fruuuuuits?" - you will cry. Yes, yes, I understand, it’s strange. Fruits are healthy, and in general everyone remembers the international proverb about that apple that you need to eat every day so that you don’t see those nasty doctors.

Or maybe you won’t see it because you’ll go blind from so much sugar? Kidding! Or maybe I'm not? After all, apples also have a lot of sugar, so you can’t eat them either! Ha!

In short: the picture shows those fruits that are more or less allowed. Or rather, they have the least amount of carbohydrates/sugar compared to others. Therefore, they are somehow more or less allowed, in small quantities (even small ones).

From one to ten it goes, from best to worst, already inside this list. Let's see where, how much...

1. Raspberries - Half a cup (60 grams) contains 3 grams of carbohydrates. The best option if you want something sweet!

2. Blackberries - Half a cup (70 grams) contains 4 grams of carbohydrates.

3. Strawberries - One cup (100 grams) contains 6 grams of carbohydrates.

4. Blueberries - Half a cup (50 grams) contains 6 grams of carbohydrates.

5. Plum - one medium (80 g) contains 6 g of carbohydrates.

6. Clementine - one medium (75 grams) contains 7 grams of carbohydrates.

7. Kiwi - one medium (70 g) contains 8 g of carbohydrates.

8. Cherries - Half a cup (90 grams) contains 9 grams of carbohydrates.

9. Cantaloupe - One cup (160 grams) contains 11 grams of carbohydrates.

10. Peach - one medium (150 g) contains 13 g of carbohydrates. Accordingly, the worst option is to pounce on fruit when you want something sweet (included in this list).

For comparison, an orange has about 15 grams of carbohydrates, a medium apple has about 18 grams, and a medium banana has about 25 grams of carbohydrates. Remember that you ONLY have 20 grams of carbohydrates per day, and the vegetables you eat with meat also contain a lot of carbohydrates. So decide what is and what is not.
